David A. Riddell


David was born in Leeds in the UK and earned his undergraduate degree in law from the University of Cambridge in 1992.  He studied for his post graduate professional qualification at the Inns of Court School of Law (Middle Temple), was called to the Bar in 1993 and worked as a barrister, first in Hollins Chambers and then Cobden House Chambers, in Manchester with specialties in criminal, contract and employment law.

David immigrated to Canada in 2001 and was called to the British Columbia Bar in June 2003.  David articled firstly at McIntyre Winteringham and later at Lando & Company LLP where he remained as an associate specializing in corporate law, business financing and real estate development and financing before joining the Vernon & Thompson Law Group in 2008.

David has extensive experience with general business law in corporate/commercial transactions and has acted in the past in corporate reorganizations and amalgamations for tax and business purposes, sales of multi-million dollar businesses, contract negotiations, setting up of family trusts, companies, societies, partnerships and joint ventures.  David helps his clients with business and asset purchases and/or sales, corporate finance and securing corporate debt, contract negotiations including employment law contracts and supervises general company maintenance.  Please see our full line of services we can provide business clients here. David’s clients cover a wide range of sizes and levels of sophistication from land developers, through contractors of all sizes, many professional incorporations, farmers, small businesses and non-profits throughout the Fraser Valley.

Since moving his law practice to Maple Ridge, David has been active in a number of community organizations in various capacities including secretary for the Meadow Ridge Rotary Club from 2010, the Board of Directors for the Friends in Need Food Bank Society 2008 to 2013 and the advancement committee at Meadowridge School 2011 to 2013. David also has strong connections with a number of local sporting associations, including managing several teams within Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey and Minor Ball Hockey Associations, running a successful spring hockey development team as well as being a parent volunteer for the Haney Neptunes Swim Club, East Maple Ridge Pony Club, and West Coast Auto Group Football Club.

In recent years David has received a number of awards including Rotary President’s Citation Award 2011/12; Rotarian of the Year 2012/13; Paul Harris Fellow and RMMHA Manager of the Year 2011. In 2014 David was acknowledged as a ‘Favourite Lawyer’ in the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows A-List
